I'm one of those people with a lot of creative ideas and things I want to try, but still working a day job that infringes on that creative time. However, I have a new sewing studio that is a true inspiration and certainly lends itself to what I love most - creating!
I'm a quilter at heart for over 25 years and continue to love and be inspired by the new designs and fabrics that continually come out every season. I sew bed-sized quilts right down to placemats and potholders that would suit any place we call "home". But in my quilting career I've found that it's hard to throw away scraps that "could be used to create something else". I've discovered that if I wrap leftover strips of fabric around cotton clothesline and sew the rope together, I can create amazing baskets and runners of various shapes and sizes that would complement any décor and still provide a practical purpose AND use up those scraps. Love it!
Aside from playing with fabrics, I am adding some interesting string art on live edge wood to the collection this year. The '70's are back with a new look. Who knew!
This lifelong creative journey continues to amaze, challenge and inspire myself and others that I teach. Come and see my booth, Quilters Crossing, where creative minds meet, this fall and experience a bit of "home".
